( nothing special about this set-up outside of venom in full form napping like a baby on the couch behind him. )
So, things have been a little heated between the metas and the non-metas from the sounds of it. For good reason. Powers are really dangerous, and it kind of seems like everywhere we go, worlds literally seem to fall apart...
...Which isn't great.
People are, like, disappearing into other dimensions. I don't know what the fuck that's about, and hell if I know how to fix it.
But... I think it could be worth trying to fix things with the people who're afraid of us... Or hate us, but those ones might take a little more work to get through.
I don't see why we can't do this Coyote Ugly style and hold a Date-A-Meta Auction? Y'know, spend a day with a local so they get to see we aren't so bad?
Or each other, if you want.
Bid on whoever.
Plus all the proceeds would go to restoration projects to get the cities back in order. So it's a win-win.
Any volunteers?

A date auction feels more authentic than, like, giving a speech? Speeches feel pretty cheap these days. A stroll in the park with the Invisible Man feels more legitimately good vibes. At least to me?

Though I may not be the best spokesperson. I've been told I can be brusque, at times.

[He'll get to telling Brock why this whole thing sounds like a terrible idea in a moment, right now Nox is just trying to figure out what the hell Eddie's even trying to say.]

I don't think you're wrong, either. I was sort of worried about the same thing, someone taking this opportunity as a way to get a meta in a vulnerable position... Still haven't completely ruled that out, either.

I mean, it'd be nice. But there's no telling how it'll go in reality. We might get torches and pitchforks.

I'll preface this with I don't think it's a bad idea. Putting aside the risks, the publicity could be beneficial. But I don't think 'metas we can't afford to speak to get paid to spend time with the wealthy and curious, turning us into a charity case that wouldn't exist if they hadn't created problems in the first place' is going to be the win for meta non-meta relations you might be hoping for.
Any kind of charity event likely to garner money and publicity runs the risk of further alienating a whole swathe of the people we're looking to help and build bridges with, unless there's a foundation of access to and help from us in the communities who either can't afford or won't attend this kind of event.
I'd suggest we need to make headway outside of the spotlight before you proceed. Done at the right time, this could really compliment a wider effort.
[ It's not a bad idea by any means, so long as safety concerns are respected and acted on. But there's a bigger picture and he's fairly sure this guy's one of the people who'd be interested in looking at it. ]

Maybe we make it a silent auction instead. More accessibility, less chance for the wealthy and curious to swoop in and $20,000 for their favorite monster of the week.
Any thoughts on a wider effort? As much and V and I don't mind fixing up buildings and helping to repave roads, I'm sure people are getting tired of seeing us fixing the same mistakes month after month.

Not to harsh your vibe or whatever, but I can tell you about how well respectability bullshit tends to work out for people like us.

Except you're probably gonna have to screen out, uh, the bad guys. And/or [ and he is someone who doesn't need to say the "slash" out loud to strongly imply it ] gorillas.
video | DN: Sleeper
Is there something wrong with gorillas, or is this a human bias thing? Not that I would consider being sold into slavery, even on a limited basis, to be an enjoyable way to spend my time.

[He guesses this goes far enough as to confirm that he’s a Meta himself to Eddie, seeing as Non-Metas aren’t supposed to have access to OurPowers and thus the ability to see what others are posting. He doesn’t think Eddie is going to rat him out though.]

We appreciate it, though. I'm sure people would photos to take home with them afterwards.
