So, things have been a little heated between the metas and the non-metas from the sounds of it. For good reason. Powers are really dangerous, and it kind of seems like everywhere we go, worlds literally seem to fall apart...

...Which isn't great.

People are, like, disappearing into other dimensions. I don't know what the fuck that's about, and hell if I know how to fix it.

But... I think it could be worth trying to fix things with the people who're afraid of us... Or hate us, but those ones might take a little more work to get through.

I don't see why we can't do this Coyote Ugly style and hold a Date-A-Meta Auction? Y'know, spend a day with a local so they get to see we aren't so bad?

Or each other, if you want.

Bid on whoever.

Plus all the proceeds would go to restoration projects to get the cities back in order. So it's a win-win.

I would be willing to spend some time with someone. Try to educate them that we're not quite so frightening.

Though I may not be the best spokesperson. I've been told I can be brusque, at times.

I think I could, at least, speak for myself. It would be statistically unlikely to be almost burned at the stake for witchcraft twice after explaining my telepathy.

Yeah, no, that... That's not what I was worried about personally. But, I mean, it's possible? Really, really, unlikely, though... I mean, I hope.

People fear what they don't understand. But if we can help them to understand, that might go a long way to less fear. Less tension.

Nearly burned. My crew saved me from that particular fate.

I heard things I wasn't meant to hear. They were a small village that had never met a Reader like me. They didn't understand that I meant no harm.

Yeah, all right, I could see how you might've spooked them... but burning is still pretty extreme, don't you think?

Apparently the only way to deal with witches is to burn them.

I suppose the point of all this is to say I can understand why some might be worried that misunderstandings could become dangerous.

Right, right. We're at about an even 50/50 split of people who're on board with this whole thing to people who think it's too dangerous... which is probably around the same ratio of non-metas who want us dead to non-metas who accept us as we are, so.

I can't say the nays don't have a point.

I suppose my confidence in being able to defend myself if need be. It isn't something I enjoy doing, but in a life or death situation I would be able to.
