So, things have been a little heated between the metas and the non-metas from the sounds of it. For good reason. Powers are really dangerous, and it kind of seems like everywhere we go, worlds literally seem to fall apart...

...Which isn't great.

People are, like, disappearing into other dimensions. I don't know what the fuck that's about, and hell if I know how to fix it.

But... I think it could be worth trying to fix things with the people who're afraid of us... Or hate us, but those ones might take a little more work to get through.

I don't see why we can't do this Coyote Ugly style and hold a Date-A-Meta Auction? Y'know, spend a day with a local so they get to see we aren't so bad?

Or each other, if you want.

Bid on whoever.

Plus all the proceeds would go to restoration projects to get the cities back in order. So it's a win-win.

I mean, I don't like the idea of random guys of all ages bidding on me in general. When it's likely either someone with a fetish or someone who wants to hurt a meta? Nooooo thanks.

Really hope you know that objectification or, like, getting tortured in a basement somewhere were pretty low on the agenda when we first drafted this up.

Ugh, I wasn't even thinking torture basement, just stabbed or shot when the date arrives.

And I figured. It's not the sort of thing you'd have to think about regularly.

We're mostly thinking of ways to get humans and metas back on the same page. But, yeah, some barriers could be put in place. Date auction could be phase three. Phase one could be a car wash? Way less likely to get stabbed at a car wash.

We could use our powers to help with everyday tasks... But that could just breed more resentment. The number of people who've told me I'm stealing work from normal humans...

We do plenty of that already. Metas are always helping out with things from reconstruction to public safety.

Plus that's a really big misconception. 'Stealing jobs' isn't even a thing. It's a political talking point, and something for people to latch onto... But crunching numbers and pointing out holes in people's logic isn't going to earn us any brownie points, either.

Tell that to all the other doordashers who say I'm snapping up all the high-tip deliveries faster than they can react.

How do you deliver?

I use teleportation. But I don't just take the highest tipping deliveries. I go for middle of the road or ones that have sat around for a while, usually because the tip is low.

Anyway you could meet the other drivers in the middle? Teleport to their cars rather than straight to the destination, that way they still feel involved and as if you're working with them rather than against them?

That's... not how it works. We're all independent, taking the orders we want from a list on an app we all use. We don't actually work directly with each other. But there are forums where we can talk, and sometimes we run into each other when picking up from the same restaurant, and they make their opinions known there.

Yeah... Okay, I think I get you. That's not as easy as 'just get along with everyone,' is it?

And you don't want to stop what you do, either...

I don't know, man. It hurts that being good at your job makes you a target.
