Hello, again. I returned home and then was drawn back here what appears to be over a year of your time later.

If anyone can direct me to where to find Logan, David, Josh, and-or Bruce, if they are still here, I would appreciate it. Also, if anyone recognizes the names of Krakoa or the X-Men from back home, please get in touch with me, too.

For those who don't fall into either of those first two categories, my name is Jean Grey, and I originally arrived with the first batch of people to come to this world. As I don't yet know if anyone I was with is still here, I'd love an update on the status of this place.

[The video starts with a peal of trumpets as the camera pans up to settle on a marionette that is painted and dressed to look like Fantastic. There's even a small rhinestone on the marionette's smile.]

[The trumpets lead in to the beginnings of the Disney classic version of "I've Got No Strings". But the song starts changing, with the music and words staying the same, but the tempo slowing and the pitch deepening. The camera keeps panning up, showing the strings as the refrain slowly repeats.]

["I've got no strings on me."]

[The control bar comes into view, along with the hand on it. A gloved hand that manipulates the bar so that the puppet keeps dancing along. As the camera pans to the back of the hand, the same symbol that many of Fantastic's guards wear on their uniforms. The music twists once more, becoming the opening riff of Metallica's "Master of Puppets".]

[The camera holds on the symbol for about three bars before the video ends.]

[Despite aiming for semi-anonymity, Danny goes with using his voice instead of text. Because if he has to type this and give himself the chance to overthink things, it might never happen.

The mic picks up the light sound of wind, and when he speaks up, Danny's not putting in the effort to change his voice, beyond playing down his slight New York accent and shifting his tone to something softer and more professional. It's a stark difference from his usual laid-back drawl, but the kid's naturally scratchy voice is still easy enough to recognize.]

So...did anyone else who caught Fantastic's speech find that a little worrying?

For anyone who was caught in the Confluence, or just fell from the sky, welcome, or welcome back. Here's what you missed.

[A recording of Fantastic's speech starts playing. Tinny and rough, like it's coming from one speaker picking up another. It sounds awful scripted for a "heart-felt" speech. Not meant to comfort or inspire confidence but to rally soldiers. The kind of speech Danny became familiar with when he was far too young. And when he'd heard it coming from Fantastic, it settled in his stomach like lead.]

You can probably find a better version of that online, but this gives the gist.

Can't say I'm crazy about him talking to us like we're a bunch of soldiers, but then, I'm guessing that speech wasn't actually for us.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I have a bad feeling that if this guy gets to be the Alliance leader, the way he wants everyone to think he already is, things might get worse for us.

[The video opens on a handsome young man, with slightly olive skin, messy black hair and blue eyes. ~~Not that there aren't plenty of those around right now.~~ He's outside with the sounds of children playing off to the side and birds in the trees. The Diadem Hotel can be seen in the distance, but it looks like he's in some kind of park.]

Man, what is it with these things and not liking certain nicknames? Nobody ever calls me Richard, but no. Can't use Dick. Somebody might think I take myself seriously.

[The grin has just the right amount of self-depreciation, but the eyes never lose their amusement in the least.]

Anyway, yeah. I'm Dick Grayson. I'm from Gotham back home, not that that's likely to mean much to most folks here, but I've been living in Blüdhaven for the past couple of years. Again, not that that's going to mean much to anybody. But, I came in with the last confluence and have been trying to take all of this in. [He huffs out a laugh and shakes his head.] This whole 'hero' thing is really pretty weird. I'm not a hero. I'm just a guy who showed up here with his dog!

[There's the sound of a bark at his side and Dick's grin widens, glancing down beside him.] Speaking of dogs. You want to meet everybody, Haley?

[The camera shakes a bit as he repositions the phone to show off a small, grey puppy with white socks and belly, though missing one leg.] Everybody, this is Haley. Haley, this is everybody.

[Haley may or may not be impressed, but she leans forward, sniffing at the phone. And the camera. So everybody gets a good look at puppy nose and hears the puppy snuffles.]

ONLINE COMMUNICATION

This community is meant to simulate online interactions between characters. The game lacks a closed network but characters have a number of choices when it comes to expressing themselves to their fellow metas.

OURPOWERS

OurPowers, the primary social media site for metahumans, operates just like Facebook. Posts and comments will have a picture of your character and their name. Players can have multiple OurPowers profiles. Posts on Ourpowers are done under their civilian name or metahuman alias.

OurPowers does have an anonymous feature. In world, this feature is there to allow metahumans the freedom to ask questions without outing themselves. It can be used for most anything, though. Replies can either be anonymous or names can be attached.

CLOSED GUILD NETWORKS

This community can be used for private guild communication. All Society members are given access to the Society's network. And all Alliance members have access to the Alliance's. Unaffiliated characters will need to set up their own.

These networks are unhackable. Any attempts to do so must be posted on the Plotting Page.
