[The video goes up on the anniversary of Jason Todd's death. It seems weird but innocuous at first. If not for the username: 🃏The Joker🃏]

[He'll be banned at some point, but many many clown-themed copycat usernames will spring up and proliferate the same video. (It pays to not casually murder your tech goon sometimes). It'll spread enough that not everyone will see it but it'll still reach Jason's eyes.]

[The video has a drop cloth behind it, hiding the actual location it's being filmed in. It opens on the image of a cake.]



[The background music of Friendship starts to play.]

[Off screen, the Joker starts singing both halves of the duet, but the lyrics are altered.]

If I ever black your eyes, what a prize!
If I ever cook your goose, what a hoot!
And if I ever put a bullet through your brain, I'll pop champagne!
It's friendship, friendship
Just a perfect blendship
When other friendships have been forgit

[Joker swans onto the screen.]

[The thing is, he doesn't know that he isn't his world's Red Hood, but really...does it even matter? The batclan recognizes him, he recognizes them. If it walks like a duck, screams like a duck, dies like a duck, etc etc.]

[So it's a wild guess that the date is the same, but he guesses correctly.]

Happy friend-iversary, formerly-known-as-bird-boy! I felt the need to celebrate the day we cemented our friendship with a bang! Here's to many more years of the two of us rolling with the punches.

[A pause.]

Or at least of you rolling with mine! [He laughs an abrupt little laugh at his own joke and gives him a little waves.]

[His voice drops to something far more sinister.]

Hope to see you soon, pal.

[Then it goes much brighter.]

[The cackle that erupts out of him is somehow the same one that haunts Jason's nightmares. The exact same cadence.]

[The message is public. He has too many people to send it to that he doesn't want to have to filter or tag individually. He's clearly up on a roof somewhere, bundled for the weather.]

I've put it off for as long as I can. I gave the social worker a story about wanting some time with study outside of school before interacting with my peers, due to an unfamiliarity with Earth, and they had me do a school online? For a little while.

But I've run out of time. I've run out of excuses and they want me to go to the meta school, but they said the teachers are Guild-Affiliated.

I'm not going to a school that'd encourage their students to join the guilds.

And I'm not staying with a fake family that hasn't earned my trust.
