Soo. That blackout. That was rough. Right? Right? . . . Right.

Anyway, uh! Stuff happened and — stuff got lost. Or stolen. Stuff and stuff. Oh my god, what am I doing.

[ he clears his throat. ]

My point is. I'm sort of freelancing my . . . powers? They work in teleportation. So I can teleport objects to anywhere in the world, but also if you lost something, I can locate it for you. Anywhere. And that applies to people too.

And, uh, I can also check where to find the best food. Like Yelp, but in my head. Don't ask.

Soo. Anyone . . . interested? Probably?

What did they even want out of it?

Well, Atypicals are rare. And they never have multiple powers. Except me. So I was a way for them to test the way that different powers work together.

[exasperation]

Did they force you?

[atypical_echo]

Of course they did. They said... Well, that's getting into the drama.

[exasperation]

I mean. I don't mind hearing it.

I don't like the idea of sharing it online either. Easier for people to get at information.

Listen, I won't turn away an ear that is going to be friendly if there is 1) coffee, and 2) some sorta document that lets me sue you if you write a book resembling my life.

[exasperation]

[ wow. that is some ego. ]

And you're sure you have friends?

[Wow, it's not ego.]

I mean, come on. My life could make a really interesting novel I bet. Like, sell it as 'alternate history' to this world.

[exasperation]

You just said it was like a depressing Netflix show.

[atypical_echo]

Man, have you seen the things they have on Netflix these days? I was watching some stuff, and they must make super bank! They had this one where there were these people that were really poor that were basically selling their lives in a murder game in hopes of getting money.

And I hear that's POPULAR!

I don't get it.

[exasperation]

You mean Squid Game which is about capitalism in South Korea? Which is a theme that resonates strongly with the links to childhood and how it always exists from the start?

[atypical_echo]

Yeah, that's the one.

You really think that people here wouldn't buy and eat up the concept of bad things happening behind the scenes via government funding and driven by the prejudice inherent in the very structure of this country, especially when mixed with the issues with distrust of the military and concepts of 'abuse of meta-powers'?

[exasperation]

I think people will buy it, sure.

But I lost interest when you assumed I only care because I might steal from you or desperate to bribe you for your story.

[atypical_echo]

First: I was gonna buy the coffee.

Second: I doubt you would. I tend to make less than great jokes when I'm stressed. And of course, that doesn't translate to text well. Seriously, the world needs a special font for that or something rather than season whatever of the Bachelor we're on.

Seriously, the Bachelor is a thing across dimensions. That one blew my mind.

[exasperation]

[ that's fair, he supposes. it's not like ripley can boast great communication skills. ]

Hey, the Bachelor is a classic.

[Mark's sorta took a nose dive during those three years he was stranded, unable to interact with anyone, in 1803. Fun times.]

Dude, I know! It's a guilty pleasure watch. But with how those ladies are SOOOOO out of the dude's league, I don't know why they keep signing up?

And someone tell me how long before we do the next 'logical' reality TV step. When do we get Celebrity The Bachelor?

Money? I feel like money is a good reason for. Anything.

And I think you'd need crazy amounts for a celeb bachelor show.

Reminds me of this Monty Python song about how money makes the world go round.

Yea, but here's the thing. You could do it with REALLY low level celebs. Those sorts that you see on police procedural shows and the like? And you ALWAYS know you recognize them a *LITTLE* and then you go on IMDB and bam, turns out they've been a dead body or suspect in like, seven other cookie cutter style shows.

[exasperation]

Maybe, but I think people would feel cheated. There's a certain image that goes with the word celebrity and celebrity isn't the same as "actor".

[atypical_echo]

Most media feels like it's cheating us, so I don't see why it shouldn't be like that.

I wonder if those marriages ever actually work out.

[exasperation]

Okay, but I don't want to be that guy. Just because everyone else does it, doesn't mean we should?
