It's possible to leave this place. I would know, being the first one to do so. 

I understand if you doubt me, as I am the Prince of Lies. But let my appearance prove that I speak the truth. I was here before, in my youth, and I am here before you now.

Enough about me, though, I do hate talking about myself at great length. Plus, everyone wants to know how, yes? So I'll shut up and get to the point.

If you hear a voice whispering in the back of your mind, let it in. Let it speak its piece. If you do, it will grant you escape.

It's a very classic call to adventure sort of thing? Or if not at the beginning, then when our hero descends to the underworld. Extremely classic. Mythologically so, even.

It's easy to mistake the devil for the mentor. Especially when the elixir seems too good to be true.

Why did you come back?

And if our hero is a villain to begin with? Is the devil not his proper mentor?

I came back to help the rest of us, though.

They're roles, not judgements on character. So call it what you will. But it sounds to me like you're somebody's pawn.

Especially since it sounds like there's something here you want, and this didn't get you any closer to getting it.
