It's possible to leave this place. I would know, being the first one to do so. 

I understand if you doubt me, as I am the Prince of Lies. But let my appearance prove that I speak the truth. I was here before, in my youth, and I am here before you now.

Enough about me, though, I do hate talking about myself at great length. Plus, everyone wants to know how, yes? So I'll shut up and get to the point.

If you hear a voice whispering in the back of your mind, let it in. Let it speak its piece. If you do, it will grant you escape.

I'm perfectly capable of fixing my own hands, thank you. I do not need whispers in the back of my mind to gift me false promises. Do you have any idea how stupid you sound?

A piece of my soul to become the only Loki. But I'm not stupid, I've made deals with Mephisto for Odin's sake.

I know how these things work, and I've made far worse deals and come out safe before.

[ He knows, he knows that's what's coming, but to hear it confirmed so casually... ]

You're not the only Loki. You'll never be the only Loki, no matter what happens in your timeline. And you've given a piece of your soul to an interfering entity to change nothing.

You haven't left the house. I don't know when you think you returned to your world and forged a new path.

Duh, but I only care about my timeline. And I am the only Loki there, so!

Why do you care so much? As you said, I've changed nothing. Nothing that anyone else cares about, at least.

Putting aside how patently untrue that is, you seem to have glazed over the part where you gave away a piece of your soul.

And? I'm clearly fine?

You're fine now. Souls aren't such expendable currency for the ones who hoard them. You've given strength to something that shouldn't have been fed. A god's strength.

So I'll get it back later. The world isn't ending because Loki was allowed to live.

[rehandle]

[ Ouch. There's the crux of it - he's a child who wanted the chance to grow up. What was he going to do, say no?

Some of the edge comes out of his voice, gentling as Loki's sharpens. ]

I don't begrudge you the desire to survive. But you are alive here. A life that you are taking lightly to change a fate that can't be unwritten.

Gods do not have history, we have story. You may be the Sorcerer Supreme, [lol] but you are not a god. I have rewritten my fate and the rest of my pantheon's time and time again. I am Loki of Asgard because I wrote myself into being.

[ There's no arguing with him like this. He changes angle. ]

How did you leave this world?

I asked to leave. I returned to the moment when I met Ikol. Things went differently this time, as you can likely imagine.

[rehandle]

You asked the thing you sold your soul very nicely if it could please send you back to your world so you could murder yourself and it somehow succeeded, in spite of that being something nothing else from this world - or ours, not you or I or either of the other of you - can do. Does that sound plausible to you?

Is it any less plausible than my pet bird being an echo of a scream trained to murder me? Or my girlfriend being a storybook character come to life? Or what of the first Loki stepping out of time to instruct his child self how to be adopted by Odin?

Or all of this, all of us being brought here?

Yes. The patterns and eccentricities of your universe don't dictate the rules of this one. But if you don't want to see it, I won't force you to do the math.

Stop telling people to give away segments of their souls. We'll talk about this more later.

I am Loki. When have I ever followed rules?

What then? Should I slam the door and yell "you're not my real All-Father"? I'll do as I please, as I always have.

And yet you can't break them enough to get back by yourself. But this demon, as if by magic even Loki can't manage...

I'm asking politely. If you'd prefer that I remind you exactly how little rule-breaking you're capable of, we can go that route.

[Loki smiles before teleporting directly behind Stephen. When Stephen turns, he'll find that he's shifted into his younger form.]

Do you prefer me like this, Stephen? You can be honest. Thor does too.

[rehandle]

[ Deep breath, Stephen. This is what you signed up for. He turns, looking down on the boy in a form he's more familiar with. ]

What difference does it make? The substance is the same. Are you going to do as I asked?

[he tosses him his phone.]

That's what you wanted, yes? I've already won, so I don't mind.

[And then the room reforms with Stephen outside and Loki inside, the door slamming, basically a magical version of "fuck you".]
