well he'd rather avoid it. historically, fighting his father hasn't ended well for him. and while he thinks he might have a better chance at beating a younger version of him, he doesn't want to take that risk and ick his wounded ego. ]

( no, he doesn't. the jasons already tire him out with that and make him even more of a recluse than he usually is.

another glance down to the park, he looks back over to damian. staring. seeing things there in his face that are... familiar. yet different. )

( at that, he steps down off the ledge, boots heavy as he moves away from it, cape gently following after him. )

Good. I didn't feel like wiping the floor with you just yet.

[ more of a mouth, more of an ego. damian crosses his arms and looks the man up and down properly. judging every inch of him, but withholding the scoring. ]

It'll come. I am the blood son, after all. You deserve to experience the upgrade first hand at some point.

( blood son? a last name of wayne, a possible connection through blood... none of the others ever mentioned any sort of possibility as the one he's currently not trying to think about.

he's young — bruce is, that is. only been at this for two years now where he's become more batman than bruce wayne and still has yet to find his real footing in being gotham's so-called protector. there's still a lot of anger he keeps there inside him and working alongside those who aren't alfred or gordon is not anything he has much experience with. maybe that shows in the way he keeps his distance — in the way he eyes damian with suspicion and uncertainty. as if always assuming the worst of people. )

See, my old man - wasn't exactly the nicest guy. And his arrogance and refusal to admit where he was wrong, that cost us everything.
