Well, if you take the time to pick the flowers and the meaning, it can be thoughtful. Plus, they can be decorative for the home. Or maybe food? Chocolates, wine, stuff like that.

Flowers have inherent meaning. There's a language of flowers. You can probably find a lot of stuff with an internet search.

But the best advice is probably do something they'd like. Show them you listen and pay attention to their interests and celebrate that.
