hello!!!

i'm looking for a superhero, they left their mask behind in an alleyway and i'm sure they're missing it!! it looks really cool and i swear i've seen it around before??

please help me find it's owner, i'd hate for someone unsavory to get their hands on it :(

I can't even tell you the amount of time's I've taken a hit to the head and woken up somewhere else entirely.

I'm surprised I haven't fractured my skull more, but, ( nodding his head towards the door leading out of the coffee shop. ) I'm not gonna jump you, but I'm not sticking 'round here either. Walk with me? Or you can ride pillion.

[ kyle squints at him for a moment, gauging that before nodding. ]

Sure. I've got time.

( if he wanted to get a hit in that badly, he'd do it in here where kyle's less likely to pull out his shiny ring powers. jason's still debating going for it, if only for the satisfaction of breaking his stupid nose.

but he throws the empty coffee cup away outside the door and shoves that hand into his pocket, too. uses the toe of his boot to kick open the door.

so no mutilation attempts just yet. but he will lead kyle down into a nearby alley, because dark alleys are the only good place to store shit. )

Sign with the Alliance yet?

[ kyle shakes his head. ]

No and I'll probably keep it that way. It's back to the poor artist life for me.

Poor baby. ( snorting as he stops a few steps away from a very modded bike. ) You gonna be able to afford an apartment? Or is that ring gonna make you one?

[ kyle gives the bike a flat look before glancing back at jason. ]

No, I made sure to use that credit card fully before giving it back. Covered my down payments and everything.

[reneger]

Mooching off the Alliance even if you won't sign with them. Sounds fair. Even if that leaves all your shit where they can track it down.

( another few steps forward, and he swings his leg over the bike to get himself comfortable on it. )

Want me to take you back to your new place?

[ kyle grimaces. ]

That sounds like a terrible idea.

I'll find out where you live anyway.

( might just take him a tiny bit longer if kyle doesn't leadd him right to it, but. )

But if you wanna end our date here, I can find you again later.

[torchbearer]

[ mutters. ] It's not a date.

But fine, whatever. It's just down the road.

You invited me out to coffee in civvies, that's about as close to a date as we get.

( see, he's even using we. even if he's snickering during. one boot presses to the ground, and jason moves a hand back to pat the seat behind him. )

Don't have any helmets, but your head's hard enough to catch your fall anyway.

[ kyle flips him off before taking a seat behind him in trepidation. ]

Look, just because you all are wired like insane people, doesn't mean I am. Normal people have coffee! All the time!

When was the last time you took someone out to coffee?( it's cute when he gets all mad.

the bike starts up without a key as he wraps fingers around the handles, head tipping back to look over his shoulder at kyle. )

You'll have to tell me where to go.

[ kyle hates that he might have a slight point. even though sometimes he wishes he could cling to his normalcy of the past. of feeling like he belongs on earth. ]

Jenny, I guess. Before the war.

Take a right turn. It's just by the end of the block once you do.

( the bike is quiet, modded for stealth over power. not usually jason's style, but it was what he needed at the time, so.

and it lets him keep snarking kyle whenever they slow down enough that he can be heard over the wind in their ears: )

[torchbearer]

[ kyle scowls off-handedly. it's not so much about being normal as much as it is about being human, but considering he's played god more than once . . . that ship has long sailed. ]

Sue me, I'm still going to cling to coffee.

You can have coffee dates all you want. Nobody's gonna judge you.

( except jason will still be referring to them as dates. )

You're not as bad as most the Gotham crew. If it helps.

kyle responds dryly. ]

You know, that's like the lowest of bars, right? And should you be saying that? Don't you all spy on each other and write stuff in secret notebooks like the Hardy Boys?

They all know they're horrible at being normal. And if they wanna listen in, that's their own damn fault.

( another turn, into the lot close to the apartment building. he could have dropped him off by the road but. )

( he would. if it was for people who aren't kyle. )

I wouldn't ask you to.

[ that much, in a bizarre way, he knows jason wouldn't. and that's fine. he slides off the seat smoothly. then kyle hesitates because he is still a bleeding heart. ]

You sure you're gonna be okay?

[reneger]

No. But your concern warms my cold, dead heart.

( he'll even raise a hand, to shoo kyle off. )

I've got people who aren't affiliated with my mini-me, and shit to get up to. I'll keep myself entertained even without your comforting presence. ( because snark is a great coping mechanism. ) Unless you wanna get into trouble with me.

[ he crosses his arm, skeptical. ]

What kind of trouble?

( he was busy antagonizing himself to make sure they wouldn't have problems. jason hasn't gotten much further than that just yet. )
