[ loki casually teleports himself in thor's new apartment, dressed in a white shirt, tie and slacks. he gives the place a flat look. ]

You really have nothing here, do you.

[ the apartment is fully furnished, just with a jumble of eclectic styles and designs. it's tidy, if chaotic, and none of it really suits thor at all

but in the main living area there's a roomy sofa and numerous chairs set at a long table, with a decent-sized space for entertaining and feeding. it's clear this will have been what drawn him to the place: space for others

when his brother appears thor looks up, raising the beer in hand and dropping his communicator onto the chair beside him ]

Hail and be welcome, brother.

It seems every time we meet, you have a drink in your hand.

[ which is not uncommon for asgardians but . . . he finds it troubling. he flicks his fingers to make the beer disappear. ]

And this apartment is a travesty.

[ thor raises his now empty hand a fraction as he realises what loki's done, then up go his eyebrows at his brother. ]

When you buy the beer, brother, you can magic it away when you wish.

Why, brother, I'm disappointed. After I came all this way . . . are you saying I'm less important than your drink?

[ he saunters closer. ]

Or perhaps you have a drinking problem?

[ thor opens his mouth to say how much ruder it would be to try to drink his brother than the beer, but shakes his head. ]

Aye. I am having trouble drinking just at present. Without the beer.

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki takes in his brother's clueless face and sighs. ]

That, Thor, is the definition of a drinking problem.

[ but he does bring back the beer. for now. ]

When I waste my days lying under a cask of Idunn's finest, then you'll have cause to reprimand me, brother.

[ he doubts this would get the boy drunk. there are advantages to being twice the size and density of normal humans. ]

But come. Tell me what you really think of my residence.

[dothelokimotion]

[ it's not about that, but it feels like a pattern. and loki trusts his instincts here. ]

It's an unmitigated mess.

[ that almost gets a chuckle out of him ]

You've a real way with words, brother.

That shouldn't be a surprise to you.

Really, Thor. You just came upon it like this?

Fully furnished, they said.

[ he doesn't seem to mind it too much ]

And you just took them at their word?

Aye. I did not stop by once to check once whether their word was true.

[ the sarcasm is very dry there. of course he checked the place out before he signed his name on, brother ]

[ loki squints at him surreptitiously. ]

Well, what's done is done. What would you like to change?

[ a pause and he scratches his beard, considering. ]

I've... no real qualms. It's no Asgardia, but it will suffice.

[ it isn't home, he means. but it's unlikely to be that for a long time. ]

[dothelokimotion]

[ at that, loki's expression goes soft, perhaps even kinder. asgardian. is that what they called it? stephen said it was new asgard. not that loki will ever see it. he will never know. ]

No. It is not.

[ he glances at the room and snaps his fingers. red drapes and intricate wall-hangings appear. the furniture starts shifting itself around. ]

[ it's always interesting to see how his brother chooses to do things like this-- specifically what loki sees as asgardian

he decides not to comment ]

I'll be sure to bring in some antlers once I get the chance to hunt.

Don't strain yourself.

[ he eyes the wall-hangings. he left them with symbols of thor's helmet. normally they would be weavings of the family, but loki doesn't really know who would be in there. thor's family is much . . . larger than his own. ]

[ the heraldry doesn't escape his notice, but again thor keeps any comments on that to himself. things won't line up perfectly between their worlds, and lineage has been-- contentious with his brother ]

Very homey. All I need now is a ten-thousand foot hall with seats enough for a raiding party, and a firepit large enough to roast ten oxen on.

[ loki rolls his eyes. ]

And how do you plan to afford that?

Cause enough problems for the neighbor that we can use their apartment as well, tear down the wall and extend the tables. And so on.
