Looking for anyone out there with information on people who have experience with advanced, robotics-adjacent prosthetics. Specifically maintenance and repair, not design. Discretion required.

Well, to start with, I'm guessing you're not asking because you're a run of the mill person who has a prosthesis, right? I only ask because standard stuff I can run through the company outreach programs, have it billed through your insurance or written up for that sort of thing.

But say we're talking... something not originally from this particular world, or perhaps what might be considered by the guilds as 'special', that stuff I work on in my own time, in my own space.

Guess I'm trying to figure out what level of security this sort of work would require.

The second kind would be more appropriate. I'm not looking to give out many details if I can help it, but it hasn't escaped me that damage here is a very likely possibility.

Well then, let me continue with the fact that if you were to come see me for repairs, my work would be completely confidential. If we're honest, I'm very respectful of the idea of doctor-patient confidentiality, and matters of prosthetics will ALWAYS fall under that.

I'll further advise you that in addition to a skill with prosthetics, I'm a skilled roboticist, I've worked with a number of rather unconventional prosthesis before, and I'm a technopath. That means that if the item runs with any sort of computer reasoning, I will often be able to diagnose ills at a touch.

And I'm also sort of a doctor with degrees in neuroscience, so depending on the way you interface with the system, I can address issues at multiple points.

Is that sufficient enough that, if you're willing to trust a stranger in some form of neutral ground meeting, we could talk about it? Maybe see if you might consider trusting me as assistance in the future? Or at least give you a chance to suss out how far you can trust me? And let's bypass jokes about 'as far as I can throw you' because I know enough people back home with super strength that I can easily envision myself being thrown pretty damn far. And enough people without it to also not see myself budged. It's all about personal ability and willingness I suppose.

The confidentiality is less a medical concern and more a trust concern. I don't know what the implications of being here are, in terms of the technology being analyzed. I wouldn't want it replicated on another. That could have...negative consequences.

A neutral meeting would be acceptable. What is a location you would prefer?

The paperwork I would have to fill out to legally look over your work for potential use in jumping tech here is SERIOUSLY INTENSE. I'd prefer to avoid that. So we can avoid replication, especially if there is something about it that means it's not easy transferable.

What's your opinion on tea?

I wouldn't call it easily transferable st all. Hopefully that will avoid paperwork as I'd also like as little documentation as possible.

It's fine. I don't drink it often but I don't avoid it either.

So basically the sort of coverage I'd offer back home to some people I know. I can work with that. Not anyone's right to know about your prosthesis anyway, unless you're using it to conquer. I tend to draw the line at aiding and abetting world domination.

I know a good teahouse in Excelsior, then. Neither close to nor far from where I live, so it's an easy place to get to, and to take you back if you want to see my work space. But also pretty easy to walk away from.

World domination sounds like far too much paperwork. And yes that's a joke. I'm not interested in any kind of conquering.

That would be acceptable to meet. I can arrange to find my way to that city.

Evenings and weekends are better, but if I told them I needed to step out for another meeting, it would be okay. There's a surprising bit of flexibility in my line of work.

Sooner is better, though. If you run into issues, you're going to want dependable support sooner rather than later.
