That's what it sounds like, but why would there be a word for Hylians when Hyrule doesn't even exist here?

Uh, they're usually a race of people in a bunch of fantasy fiction. And also mythology, but if people are calling you an elf they're probably not thinking about the myths.

In all the stuff with elves I've seen/read, the only real consistent trait about elves is the pointy ears. And living for a long time.

There's no "Elfrule" but it sounds like elves are little spirits that watch over children around the winter solstice.

they're little forest spirits! we used to play one big game of hide and seek across all of hyrule

they really like playing game and tricks and stuff like that
