i'm not usually a social media guy, but since there are lots of new people showing up from wherever and they all seem lost, i figured i'd jump on here. i know there are probably a lot of other locals they've (you've?) talked to, but still.

hi, i'm olly. i've lived in central city my whole life, and i'm very familiar with the alliance and the society. that's because part of my powers is that i'm bad luck, which means if there's ANYONE in the city that gets taken hostage in a heist or fight or whatever, it's probably going to be me. it's been that way since i was 17, and it's probably never going to change. (you can ask anyone in the guilds, they all know.)

a couple of people have stopped me in the last month or so to ask for food recommendations and other things, so here's what i have for you:

LOCAL FOOD:
Bun Daddy - hot dogs and hamburgers/cheeseburgers, really good and really greasy
The Top Chop Shop - bbq, ribs, steaks, a little pricey but worth it
Zelda's - pierogi, mostly, but the fillings change every day and it's cheap
Tacos First - food truck, self-explanatory, though there's more than just tacos, and they sometimes have live music
Ma's Place - italian, pizza, greek
Eden - all vegetarian and vegan, really good and reasonably priced
Froth - coffee shop near the college
Pop Tea Bar - tea, bubble tea, japanese and korean snacks

if you have questions about other stuff around here, i'm sure if i can't help you, one or more of the other locals can.

yeah, i guess war will do that. i think i'm getting a mental image. do you all have powers there?

[ 'they,' not 'i' because she doesn't want to risk anything. it all feels so tenuous still, the sense that no one really cares that she's the sun summoner anymore. grief and relief simultaneously. but she certainly doesn't trust anyone here not to react to grisha as fjerda and shu han and the isles have. ]

metas here are lucky.

it's a shame they can't all come here, then. i mean, there are still people here who can be awful to metas, but on the whole it's not too bad.

if a confluence can pull all of us here.
but even if they did, it'd mean abandoning ravka to the war and the fold.

the unsea.
miles of shadow filled with monsters that cuts through ravka like a scar.
it makes it hard to get supplies because it cuts the capital off from the coast.

where did it come from?
i guess people get across by using grisha?

a grisha made it.
a long time ago.
the grisha of the second army help bring skiffs through it. they put wind in the sails and make lights for the decks that don't attract the volcra. but they don't all make it.

and they don't get a choice in this.
can the fold be unmade??

in theory.
there are only certain powers grisha get. it's not as varied as metas.
if a grisha could bend light the way the black heretic used shadow, and if she were powerful enough ...

oh yeah, good point. what kind of powers do grisha usually have?

there are three kinds
etherealki, materialki, and corporalki
etherealki includes inferni, squallers, and tidemakers who control fire, air, and water.
materialki are durasts and alkemi. they engineer materials and chemicals.
and corporalki are heartrenders, healers, and tailors. they can control the body.
the black heretic who made the fold and the sun summoner are both special kinds of etherealki.

you said she when you mentioned the sun summoner earlier, is there some kind of story attached?

[ otherwise, how do they even have a name for something that hasn't existed in the last century? ]
