Take a host?

[ He doesn’t like the sound of that at all. ]

You can possess people?

[ The last time someone was trying to take a human host, in Nico’s experience, a Titan almost destroyed New York. Leaving aside his Catholic childhood, he’s still recoiling. ]

Can he do it too?

It's more of a partnership. At least, it should be. Some symbiotes are less interested in the welfare of their host, but I would prefer someone be open to the idea.

[They leave off the fact that they have both taken over a host and taken one who didn't know they were there. Those were extenuating circumstances.]

I doubt Dylan will need that particular ability. The reason to have a host is to better integrate with a population of other sentients. He's a human among humans.

But you don’t need one.

[ Since they’re obviously here as just a symbiote. ]

What does the human get out of it?

Strength, speed, resistance to most kinds of damage as well as regeneration from those injuries that do happen. Companionship, understanding. It is...quite a deep relationship, if one wants it to be.

But no, a host is not required, although it can be more convenient for blending in. It isn't obvious at all times who might be bonded with a symbiote.

[Sleeper doesn't know why Nico is so upset by the idea of symbiotes, or if it's that they resemble creatures from his reality.]

In a true bonding, it becomes difficult to be separate. Memories and sensations can become entwined in a way that is...complicated. I feel it would be unreasonable to go into something so intimate without an understanding. And piloting a body with no mind is less than pleasant in the long-run.

Weird.

[ It's the nicest thing he can manage to say. He thinks the whole thing sounds awful, considering that it sounds like they know what the human thinks all the time. To not even have the privacy of your own head... ugh. No. But that's Sleeper's life, and maybe Dylan's, and Nico can hold his tongue.

He doesn't mind talking to Dylan. He's willing to not piss off Sleeper to preserve that.
