Hey guys! So, question- sorta.

Why do people have "secret identities" or hide their powers? [ quirks, that's what she wants to call it ] Like, I was told it's better if I can hide among the population, but that sucks, I like being pink.

That isn't really something that happens in my world. The point is that people know you. [ Hero Profession ends up being partially a popularity contest, although Mina also doesn't care much about that ]

Also, who's going to school? I have had a couple of classes and I'm very lost...

A secret identity keeps you and the people you care about safe. Not every world is super nice to people with superpowers.

Eh? The Heroes' families aren't protected by the government? [ why not, that doesn't make sense ]

Plus, none of my friends and family are here. [ so it doesn't matter, does it ?]

Not usually. A lotta times they just, like, totally disavow their kids.

but josh is... exceedingly cautious. it comes from a real place. seeing a kid running around, wanting to be a hero - visibly non-human - strums a chord he doesn't like hearing echo. ]

But even if they're not here, it's a good idea to keep a civilian identity and a hero identity. At least until we get a good read on how much being, like, superpowered could fuck up your life here, y'know?

What?! That's awful, who'd do that to their own children?! How cruel...

Why would superpowers be bad? Everyone in my world got them and they are great! [ not... everyone. But Mina doesn't care about statistics ]

People are afraid of other people who aren't like him. And, like, when most of us get our powers we don't tend to have full control and people freak out and think we're dangerous.

They teach boring stuff like math and chemistry and physics and history and literature...

There are also some classes about using your powers and some Hero stuff, too.

Back home the whole superhero thing isn't somethin' people do. But most people just keep it all secret cuz otherwise the folks in charge get a bee all up in their bonnet about it.

At least here that's not a thing, being a hero is legal.

I guess that's now how the cops and other folks in charge see it. [ She's just a kid, so what does she know about what adults think of people playing hero? ]

Totally! I mean I got these cool powers, might as well use 'em to help people that need it. Right?

I tried to do it back home. Didn't go as planned.

Yeah! The Queens helped me come up with a name. Even kind of helped me with the idea of my costume.
