I’m Amadeus also known as the Totally Awesome Hulk. [he flexes for the camera.] And this here is Ms. Marvel. Back home us and a few others had a team going and while it’s just the two of us so far why not expand?

Hey, so we’ve been thinking about this for a while and we were wondering if anyone would be interested in a kind of . . . off brand guild. No special privileges or anything, sorry. But a guild we can all agree and work together and not be . . . part of the system.

I know we’ve all been there. Been burned by adults and other heroes. Seen what corporations can do to heroes. And I think here, we can start our own guild. Do what’s right because that’s what heroes do. Small or big, up to you.

So what do you say? Want to start the Protectors with us?

My only rules are you can’t have signed up with the guilds already. And if you’re underaged let me know and I can sign whatever notes you need to get out of school.

[ she glances at him. ]

I am 19, you know. Schools usually just want to cover their butts so as long as someone else says they’ll take responsibility it’s fine.

I never joined a guild officially because I'm not really sure it's for me. I mean, I don't know if this is either, but it seems less...loaded? Maybe?

Anyway, I'm Spider-Man and I do spider things. You know, I'm strong and fast and flexible and I can swing on webs.

Man, no, sorry. That's a terrible description. But I think Ms. Marvel already knows a little about me. Or recognises my name, even if it's one of those multiverse things.

Yeah, we both know you. And that's the idea, it shouldn't be a loaded commitment. Like. We're all heroes and we care about helping others. That should be our first and biggest thing.

We don't want to get swept up in guilds and money, we want to make sure we're for the community first.

[ They're fake as hell but he can still swing with them! ]

I like that. I mean, I'm just a friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man back home, y'know? Community is really important to me.

[ that's true but . . . weird, to her. she's so used to peter being grown up. ]

Cool, cool. So...what's the process for joining? Are we gonna do missions like the other guilds or is this kinda, like, you get the ID card but we're not working as a team?

Sorry, I don't know a lot about how the big guilds work so I'm just throwing things out there.

The way I saw it, we could have our own mission board. The Guilds pay for their stuff and they definitely discriminate between who gets helped and who doesn't.

But we can keep an eye on our communities and call on each other's help if we need it.

Oh, that sounds pretty awesome. Our own mission board. Sending stuff to the group chat to be like, hey, I need help here or, hey, I saw this happening in your area.

Yeah, awesome! I gotta learn more about the other heroes here though so my memes aren't just reliant on back home stuff. I'll work on that.

So...is there, like, a clubhouse or a database of what everyone's powers are, or?

Amadeus will compile something once we finalize our volunteers. It's not a big deal, just to see whose powers and abilities are the best fit for the situation.

I mean we don't need any of that, I'm just spitballing.

No, I haven't gotten that far but I guess we could brainstorm over photoshop.

[He files away the details of what he can pick up to go over later, but he makes a guess that this isn't a version of Miles, rather a version of the older Spider-Man.]

Personally I'd rather do my own thing and help people even if it might be inconvenient for the guilds.

[ Of course Peter wonders if that means they know who he is under the mask, but obviously he's not going to go into that here so he just...puts a mental pin in that. ]

Oh, cool. I dunno how different we are across universes or stuff like that. I mean...I met one Spider-Man who could make web fluid just come out of his...arm? It was wild. I can't do that bit.

I wanna help people too. I don't really care about inconveniencing the guilds, either. I've never been on a team before, though.

[ He's fought alongside the Avengers a little, but it wasn't exactly the same. ]

So what can you do? Proportional strength of a spider, invisibility, bio-electricity?

And don't worry, I've run the numbers before. In the absence of a danger to bring people together, the best way to ensure a successful team is to get along with the people you want to work with. So hangout and get to know each other first, the rest will come later.

Uh, sorry, anyway…I'm very strong and very, uh, bendy? Flexible. You know. I can take a lot more damage than a non-powered human, though I think that doesn't mean much in this place. And I have this, kinda, sense thing that…well, it would be easier to show you than explain it. Hard to put into words.

[ He has no idea if the others all feel this thing and it's common knowledge. ]

I'm also pretty good at making things. I designed my web fluid. I can swing around on it, tie up bad guys with it…I know other mes can do that, too, so you've probably seen something like it?

[ A breath. ]

I haven't just hung out with people in what feels like forever. Man. That sounds nice, even all the hero parts aside.

The costume kind of gave it away, but you're definitely a version of the first Spider-Man.

[Is it the personality or powers or something else? Amadeus isn't saying because while he doesn't bother with his own secret identity, he respects that other people do.]

Let me guess, you've been too busy with the superhero thing? That's also a part of the reason for this. None of us can actually do everything by ourselves.

Well…yeah, kinda. I'm pretty used to the solo thing anyway but I did have friends at home, and I feel like it's been a little touchier here. I dunno.

There's two people who go by the name Spider-Man in our world. The second one's our friend actually. [He's not going to get into the various other spider-people as it seems like this is already too much for this guy.]

And losing all your support network at once can do that. Even if they don't have any powers there's a lot to be said about having someone just there for you.
