Talk to me about the guilds. Not the recruitment speech from the people from here, I mean opinions from others who were transplanted to this place.

I mean, they’re focused on helping people, right? I was already working with someplace kind of similar back home, and they do a bunch of stuff to help you do that!

I guess all of the attention is a little new to me, though… I never had to deal with that back home.

Being unaligned doesn't exactly sound like a picnic.
Though I'm afraid it wasn't much of an option for me.

He's...tired of living on the lam, honestly, it isn't a life he wants, but he doesn't feel great about the bargain he's living now either. He certainly would have strongly considered it.]

And it makes you not want to join them.

We don't trust them, but it's pretty hard to get anything done without their help. Most places don't really trust unregistered heroes, so if you're trying to do something big, you're gonna need their blessing.

Which is a hard bargain.

They offer a measure of security and unity for the superpowered that isn't present in most worlds.

I also found it weird that there isn't more written history. Some of it I imagine is so built into the culture that no one feels a need to write about it, but still.

Then again, that's also PR, keeping details out of the spotlight. Still seems too good a deal.

Sounds like they expect you to do their work and they're gonna publicize it. Not sure I like that. Even if it is just cats.

Yes. I guess sometimes the catch is worth it but I don't know.

Neither. I'm sure they like their balance with each other or whatever but I haven't been convinced that signing up with either one is worth it.

I guess some people like the attention. Publicity and all that goes along with it.

It hasn't been the easiest but I've had worse.

I guess some of it depends on what you want to get done. Just living, for example. Let the people who want to be heroes do whatever it is they do.

Hmmmm... I guess I get where you're coming from... still, I've been able to help lots of people ever since, so I think I made the right choice :D

As for the publicity thing... I mean, it can't exactly be easy to get famous, right?

But they do offer benefits instead of having to fend for yourself.

On the bright side, the Alliance has mostly stayed out of my business so far.
I've been volunteered for a few things, but nothing I minded.

They do keep bothering me to get an Instagram. Apparently I don't have enough of a social media presence for their liking.

It's probably not a popular opinion.

Think some of that depends on how good you are at being by yourself. Or what you're used to in terms of amenities and comforts.
