Considering we come from different worlds, but we're kind of expected to fit into superhero or supervillain . . . kind of curious to see where some of us stand?

Certain branches of magic suffer from the same unfortunate state of existence in my own world.

That's sad. Magic sounds cool? My powers are very mundane.

And you can be creative and smart about it.

Magic can be mass-used in some ways and more unique in others, not unlike technology and the special abilities people here experience.

Magic can be just as mundane as anything else, really.

[ mass produced magic? sounds like the world literally . . . well, takes the magic out of things. magic's always been a vague term but ripley enjoyed those stories. not because it was about being special, but the wonder that came in places like those. ]

To think someone once argued that refrigeration was better. Such a waste of power, that one.

So magic doesn't have a cost?

Doesn't everything? But what the cost is depends on the level of magic and not all costs are equal.

Mundane magic doesn't require much of anything as long as it has a power source and much less wasteful of it.

[exasperation]

A power source? Like a wand? Or a magical crystal?

Runestones and prisms are great power sources, yes. Something about the form refracts the magic similar to how they refract like and thus increase the output.

Do you use magic?

Almost everyone uses magic in Avari. It's hard not to when it powers trains, airships, and has been such a boon to the agricultural sector.

[Unless you count anti-mystics but Ulari has spent enough of his life avoiding those people to not bother counting them.]

There is a distinct lack of resources for using magic here.

I unfortunately didn't think to bring any special tools besides a standard charm with me..

Maybe people in Sunset Falls have that kind of stuff?

I could find some magic shops. It's easy.

Yes, they do have quite a bit of this world's magic here.

It's rather different from what I expected when I was told one of the major cities had such a magical influence. The magic is very...unrefined. Wild.

Well, wild magic certainly isn't going to power my icebox, is it?

Sorry, I keep picturing like a wild cat and you need to domesticate it except instead of a cat, it's like a ball of magic.

I could with the right tools maybe with trial and error, but I'm not skilled in alchemy. I'm a financial advisor.
