[the video opens to... blurriness. realizing this, diana wipes at the lens with her hand, really just making it worse. she curses quietly in some language, and rubs at the camera more vigorously. eventually, it clears up enough to show the spiritual carnage around her. she's up to her elbows in silvery ectoplasm, and it's smeared all over her armor. the rounded edge of her shield peeks up from behind her shoulders, also silvered with ectoplasm. she's gotten most of it out of her hair, at least. somehow, she still manages to look none the worse for wear.

her lips are set in a grim line, and she only says one thing before she cuts the video:]

I need a sword.

Until today, I didn't know you could punch spirits. I also didn't know they were full of anything. It was disgusting.

[Diana's not the only one who needs to have gallons of residual ghost goo hosed off of her, though Looma's sheer size has at least been helping to keep her own device clean so far. There are some ghostly limbs desperately grasping for her from offscreen, but the ghouls they're attached to can't do much more than that.

She might not be able to choke them out, but holding them by the throat still works well enough at buying her some time to use the network uninterrupted]

Is that all you require, human? After what this place has done, a mere sword would be child's play.

[diana squints, wondering if this... giant red woman is okay, but she certainly seems to be doing fine. conversation it is. diana gives a little frown, then corrects:]

I'm an Amazon. And a sword will serve me just fine. Why, do you know where I could find another weapon?

A what? What's--ugh, nevermind.

[There were more important things right now than figuring out what the heck this human(or...not-human???) is talking about. If she still cared enough to know after all of this was over, she'd ask then. For now, she had weird superpowered ghouls to destroy. And, judging by the way the arms from offscreen suddenly stopped grasping for her and instead started to claw desperately at her arms meant she was doing just that.

As did the barely perceptible sounds of a humanoid creature having its neck used like a stress ball, especially when those ghostly limbs disappeared in an explosion of slimy ectoplasm shortly after.]

You're speaking to me, are you not?

[As Looma felt showing might work better than telling when it came to getting explaining what she meant, she took the opportunity to leap away from the fray toward a less busy part of the street. After holding her device out as far as possible in order to give Diana a proper view, Looma extended both her right arms in order to create a weapon for each hand. And in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, she was suddenly armed. In one hand she had what appeared to be some sort of large, bronze sickle while the remaining hand was now holding something closer to a large broadsword.

Both were larger than anything a human could be expected to comfortably use, though that was due entirely to the fact that she was making them as much for herself as she was for the purposes of this demonstration.]

See? So long as it's something I'm familiar with, I am perfectly capable of making whatever weapon you require.

[diana is just... trying to process everything that's happening. the warrior on the other end of the line is clearly still battling the specters, though she doesn't seem to be putting any effort into it. and is diana supposed to know who she is? did she miss some interdimensional memo about tall red alien(?) women who know where to find weapons?? the multiverse is so confusing.

gods, this woman has more than two arms!! the angle of the camera kept her from seeing them before. but her shock at that revelation is quickly overridden by the fact that looma has just SUMMONED WEAPONS OUT OF THIN AIR!!! that is a fully-realized-god-level trick, and diana is obviously and immediately impressed.]

Great Hephaestus! How did you do that? How many can you make at once? Are they permanent?

[ Angela isn't used to communicating devices that can do video. And while she is likely in the same room as this other warrior woman who she had so recently fought beside, she instead opts to use text to reply. ]

I have a broadsword, forged for me by the arachne Tsukikage, but now that my Ichors have been returned to me, I have no need of it.

What is your price?

[broadswords aren't really her deal, but she's kinda desperate. also, it sounds sick af]

Allow me to rephrase.

What is the sword worth to you? I will accept whatever payment you deem appropriate.

Right now, I have only the clothes I was given in the hotel and the stipend all newcomers receive to trade. I would give it all to have a blade in my hand again.

Tell me where I may get myself some clothes, and the sword is yours.

[ All she has so far is her breastplate and a pair of stolen gym shorts. ]

If you are at the Diadem Hotel, you can request on set at the front desk. Otherwise, there is a place called a "mall" that is apparently like a large market. I have it on good authority that there are many clothing options for sale there.

I am still at the Diadem Hotel. I can meet you in the lobby.

[the perfect place to hand off a deadly weapon, obviously]

[ You mean you don't regularly make weapons deals in public spaces? ]

I am not staying at the hotel, but I can be there in an hour.

[ And she's there, in the lobby of the Diadem, within the agreed upon timeframe. It's easy enough to spot her, given how she's a six-foot-two redhead in gleaming golden armor holding a sword. ]

[There is only one way to properly receive a weapon of such make, and so Diana dons her own armor before heading down to the Diadem's lobby. She easily ignores the stares of the everyday patrons just trying to go about their business. A wide smile breaks over her lips when she spots her new friend.]

[ There is a smile which comes to Angela's lips as well. Their first meeting was one of violence against monsters, which Angela has found to be a wonderful way to meet people and forge lasting bonds. ]

Diana.

[ She unhooks the sheathed sword from her wide belt and holds it out for Diana to take. ]

I hope you find this to your liking. It has served me well for the past year.

[She takes the sword with appropriate reverence, knowing that though Angela may no longer need it, the blade has still been with her in battle. It's no easy thing to give up a trusted weapon.

She takes a moment to assess its heft, then unsheathes it to test the balance. Again, ignoring the stares of those now giving them a wide berth in the hotel lobby. Pleased, she sheathes it again and begins to strap it to her baldric at her hip.]

It is a well-made weapon. I pray to Athena it will serve me as well as it has you.

[ Angela watches Diana heft the sword, noting with some pleasure that she is obviously a woman skilled with such a weapon.

It's always nice to meet a kindred spirit. ]

Should you have need of a sparring partner, I would welcome the opportunity.

[Sheath secured, Diana abandons the gravity of ceremony and a wide smile blooms across her lips.]

I would be honored to spar with you. But I fear we will have a hard time finding a suitable space in this city.

That is true. The cities of Earth are often not designed for open violence.

[ You get in one sword fight in Central Park, and suddenly you're on some sort of watch list... ]

I will keep my eyes peeled for a suitable location.

They certainly are not. [Diana longs for the training fields of Themyscira. There's no better place to test one's skill against another warrior.]

As will I. [She smiles.] And I hope to meet you on such a field soon.

[Eddie is likewise covered in ghostly violence goo. Unlike Diana, he hasn't successfully figured out how to look like he hasn't taken a bath in the stuff yet.]

The polite thing to do would be for at least one of these ghosts to have a ghost sword we could borrow--take--steal?

That would have been convenient, but any weapons they had... disappeared with them.

That's clever. I wish I had thought of it at the time. But as things stand, I am still without a weapon and the ghosts seem to be gone.

Well, in that case the Guardian Alliance will probably drag you to Central City because they're sort of assholes like that, and when you get to the hotel, across the street at the strip mall this lady sells some really quality stuff. The cheap stuff is out on display, but when you talk to her and show her you actually know what you're talking about, she'll show you the good stuff.

[she knows what a mall is, and she knows what it is to strip. is this a place she really wants to visit?? but also... weapons. so yes.]
