So, where are the hotspots in Central City? The nightlife, the culture? A half-decent burger? The hotel is nice and all, but I'm looking to get into some real trouble.

i'm always nice earns her a half snort, half laugh noise. he doesn't need to point out it's bullshit, they both know it without jason playing captain obvious. he crumbles up the burger wrapper before pulling out the fries and setting them on the rooftop. the bag's the trash bag now, which is where the remnants of his meal go. )

A little while. [ avoidant by nature, dabbing the corner of her mouth with her napkin. it's easy to get comfortable due to familiarity but she's not trying to get too comfortable. ] Since the last... thing. The "Confluence" or whatever. [ shhhh, ignore how long this thread has dragged on, shhhh.... ] I won't lie, this is all a little above my pay grade. I'm street-level. I like to antagonize greedy, rich old men and steal shiny things. I'm not really well versed in this interdimensional kidnapping thing. This is more his kind of thing. One of those Justice League-y things. I've just been trying to find my footing here.

How long have you been frequenting the burger place?

Well-versed, but it's still way out of my paygrade.

( this isn't his first rodeo, although it's significantly different than traversing around universes with donna and kyle. well. kyle's here. but they're not skipping around places for funsies. jason waves it off, because they both already know he prefers to fuck with the asshats running gotham's underbelly than - well, this. )

Got here in March. There's a few of us who've been around a lot longer than that. ( he'd give her the rundown on the rest of them, but - ) Our timelines're all fucked. Some of us are a little behind, a little ahead, from entirely different sides of the universe.

Yeah, I kind of got the gist of that. You're the first one I've actually, y'know, come face-to-face with, but I've seen some stuff. I'd hoped this would all be very temporary, that I could drop in and get sent back home without anyone knowing I'd even been here... but then I remembered Bat spent thirty-seven years playing some kind of real life MMORPG with Wonder Woman, so like... I probably should start getting comfortable.

[ the sooner she rips off the band-aid and all that, start getting the uncomfortable reintroductions and recaps out of the way. things have always been complicated with bruce, so things with the bat family can be equally tricky. ]

So, how do you want to do this? The last time I saw you -- a version of you? -- Bruce and I were pulling you out of a burning building. We've been working together, trying something a little... ambitious, and BatDad is kind of BatMad about it. Before that? I don't know, I've been keeping my distance. We're on a break, so I don't exactly get regular updates on everyone. Things are never really normal, really, but it feels like nothing's been the same since Alfred... well...

You get pulled into a shit nightmare any time recently? Not a normal one, but one where one wrong move might've left you not waking up at all.

( not that it matters if they're from the same place. he knows he was behind everyone else until he suddenly wasn't. selina may be just. . . ahead in the timeline, or from somewhere else entirely even if alfred--if that lines up, as does the fun trip with diana a while back. )
