So, where are the hotspots in Central City? The nightlife, the culture? A half-decent burger? The hotel is nice and all, but I'm looking to get into some real trouble.

( by sitting himself down on one of the taller buildings available, bag of fast food on the ledge beside him, and a small but bright enough to be seen if someone's looking for it red flashlight on and pointed south. )

[ she takes note of the address, sticking it in her back pocket for now so to speak, but let's be honest-- even just the curiosity will get the better of her eventually. cats and their curiosity, ho-hum. ]

[ she finds him easily enough, he's kind of hard to miss. she's still getting used to this place, still trying to map it out in her head. still trying to keep her head low and not bring any unnecessary attention, so when she first approaches him, she does so more discreetly -- a wiry little thing with sleek, black fur and bright green eyes. not a stray, judging by the very fancy collar. she meows in a soft little chirp as she brushes against the bag beside him. whatever's inside is like an explosion of different scents when she's like this, and it smells delicious.

the cat scurries off into the darkness, and it's the cat who reemerges in a much more familiar form. ]

I sure hope you brought something for me. So rude to eat in front of other people, didn't Alfred teach you better?

Been a while since I've been dancing, but there's a great diner about a mile from the hotel.

What a shame. You should try it again some time. It's great for cardiovascular endurance. But for the record, there are a couple of diners about a mile from the hotel. Care to be a little more specific?

I know how to dance. I just haven't been out in awhile. I'd probably get cramps.

What's the saying... if you don't use it, you lose it? Sounds like all the more reason to get back out there. But, hey, I don't know your life. Maybe you're a real busy guy.

I'll have to report back. I've got pretty high standards for greasy diner foods. You been here long?

I've been busier, but I'm not sure I've ever had much of a life. [ Sixteen year old him would disagree, but sixteen year olds are wrong about a lot of things. ]

There's a lot of junk on the menu, but just get the burger. [ Like a lot of places in the neighborhood that only cook one thing well, Bucky's pretty sure this diner is a money laundering front. ]

I've only been here a couple months, but I was stuck in a dystopian future for a while before this, so I have a special appreciation for really greasy American burger.

You realize you're kind of just adding to my side of the case here, right? All the more reason to go out and have some fun. How do you feel about museums?

[ because there's always the other, less legal form of fun if he's into that kind of thing. she's a big fan of that option. ]

And then you landed here. You've really got all the luck, don't you? I was in the middle of a thing. Kind of eager to get back, but also kind of tempted to ride this all out as long as it lasts. Months might be testing my patience, so I might as well find something to enjoy about this place.

Art museums? Or the history kind?

Not everyone wants to go back. [ Which is something he understands, even if he'd never consider staying. If he had the choice. ] Doesn't mean they enjoy this place, but it maybe it says something about those burgers.

( the cat isn't a surprise; there are strays all over, and junior's got his own little cat friend he takes around with him. not that this one matches sleeper's description at all, but. jason turns in towards her while she brushes against the bag, raises a brow but doesn't say anything.

watches as the cat runs off, and then as catwoman appears.

not suspicious at all, is it. jason raises his shoulders in a loose shrug, then grabs onto the bag. lifts it up and back towards her. )

Burger and fries. I'm not a monster.

Definitely art museums. I'm a real patron of the arts back home; I like to spend my time surrounded by beautiful things.

I get that. Lord knows I've wanted to run away from everyone and everything before, I know what that's like. Move some place new. Try and remake yourself into someone new. This is just a fun, new, drastic level.

[ like, a year or two ago? after she'd left bruce on that rooftop waiting for her at the altar? she definitely could have used something like this. it's more complicated. she's got people back at home that she's worried about. ]

Any other recommendations?

Haven't been to many museums here. Wonder if they've got all the famous paintings in the same place as back home. [ Or maybe they've got different paintings altogether? He hasn't thought about it. ]

You can run, but you always carry your old self with you. It's the worst.

You like pancakes?

I was wondering the same thing. I'm going to have to make a point of seeing what this place has to offer, may a day of it.[ and a night. ]

I like pancakes as much as the next person, so long as there isn't a deadline involved to get them. Less of a morning person.

The only reason you go to a pancake house in the morning is if you didn't sleep at all that night.

[ the sound of his voice comes with an unexpected sense of relief -- she's gotten a sense of how things work here to know he's likely not the same jason from home, that their timelines might not match up, but the unexpected time out doesn't exactly put all that shit on pause. if she misses a beat at all, she tries not to let it show, pushing whatever's bubbled up aside for now.

selina takes a seat beside him, snatching up the bag in an instant before digging in -- a fry, first, to get things rolling and then the burger the very second she manages to get it unwrapped. the sense of smell is dialed down, now, but the tastes more than makes up for it. ]

God. [ look, she's going to need a moment. ] This is much better than whatever overly complicated and unnecessarily fancy bullshit they were trying to serve at the hotel.

( jason snorts, hand moving back to rest it's palm on the rooftop behind him while he turns towards her a little. not quite facing her, but close enough. they've seen all kinds of people show up here, from vaguely familiar to not familiar at all while mildly familiar with them. she looks--about right. there's no obvious physical differences, selina isn't noticeably extremely younger or older which is a good sign, but none of them are obvious tells. they'll have to have the good old fashioned what's the last thing you remember conversation, which jason always hates.

[ oh, they can save that for last, even. she's not exactly looking forward to explaining all the drama back home and how, y'know, how she kind of set that whole thing in motion. oopsies.

she's already halfway through her burger when she stops long enough for any kind of conversation, rummaging through the bag for a napkin and some more fries. ]

I'm always nice. [ lol, that's a lie. ] I've tried a couple other places around the city, nothing that's really stood out to me. Although, I did find a place that makes an excellent latte. At least I've got the basics covered.

( she focuses on finishing off her burger, so jason takes the time to finish off his meal, also. may as well, he's not going to waste it.

i'm always nice earns her a half snort, half laugh noise. he doesn't need to point out it's bullshit, they both know it without jason playing captain obvious. he crumbles up the burger wrapper before pulling out the fries and setting them on the rooftop. the bag's the trash bag now, which is where the remnants of his meal go. )

How long'd it take you for that?

A little while. [ avoidant by nature, dabbing the corner of her mouth with her napkin. it's easy to get comfortable due to familiarity but she's not trying to get too comfortable. ] Since the last... thing. The "Confluence" or whatever. [ shhhh, ignore how long this thread has dragged on, shhhh.... ] I won't lie, this is all a little above my pay grade. I'm street-level. I like to antagonize greedy, rich old men and steal shiny things. I'm not really well versed in this interdimensional kidnapping thing. This is more his kind of thing. One of those Justice League-y things. I've just been trying to find my footing here.
