I'm one of the new meta-arrivals, Pinky! Nice to meet you all!! [ Mina spreads out her arms and winks, however, she eventually pulls down her white mask before she shakes her head a little ] Name's Mina Ashido.

Ehehe, I figured I should try using this thing. I know a bunch of us are new like I am, so I wanna meet everyone. I came from Tokyo in Japan, my world has superpowers - [ quirks. But nobody seems to be familiar with that term ] - and a superhero society and all that. I'm studying to be a Hero myself at U.A.! [ not that... anyone knows what that is ] I'm going to school here now, instead, though I don't think I will be able to pass any of those classes... [ she mutters that last part, before she grins wide again. NO MATTER! ]

I wanna help this place out, so I guess I will be joining the Guardian Alliance. Plus I dun' wanna be without money. [ she is a kid and never had a job, a normal job is also not what she wants either. So to her, it was a no-brainer]

Anyway, let's all be friends!! [ she waves one last time at the camera before the video is cut off ]

Ehh, why you ask... [ WHY INDEED ]

Even though it's not a hero school, I still should learn the basic stuff other kids my age learn, right? Math, history, science, all those things. They are important for the future. [ she says that very slowly, as if reciting what her teachers tell her all the time because Mina's grades are absolutely awful ]

[ A dismissive wave of her hand. ]

They're really not. Are your tutors paid well? They must be keen on keeping their jobs, if they're telling you such things.

They are Pro-Heroes, they know what they are talking about. [ to put it bluntly, she believes them over a lady telling her not to bother with school ]

But I can also make friends at school, and I can learn how this place works, too. I never been to America after all.

Oh. Are lessons not private?

No, no. [ she waves her hand ]

It's a school, with a classroom. Back home, it's 20 of us in total.

Oh. [ hmmm .. thinking that over ... ] I suppose it might be worth it for that much. But really, there's no use in stressing over the details. Life is too short, even for me.

[ Mina rubs the back of her head ] I don't mind school. It's just some subjects are a bit hard for me. [ all theoretical subjects are hard for her ]

Ah, what's your name, by the way?

Vidana. [ A practiced, polished smile. ] And you said ... Pinky, or some such, wasn't it?

it's nice to meet you, Vidana-san.

[ mina nods ] That's my Hero name. My civilian name is Mina.

What's the difference?

Civilian name is the name my parents gave me and the Hero name is the name I will use as a hero.

I see. [ She doesn't. ] That's a requirement for, what, saving people? Having another name?

Welllll... one of my classmates decided to keep his name as his Hero name. So it's not a requirement.

it's just really cool! [ Mina rises her arms with excitement ]

Wait, did you pick that name? Pinky? Choose it for yourself?

Yeah, it's part of our Hero studies. We gotta pick a name that will represent us, make us easy to identify and that it will sound friendly to the public.

Since Alien Queen wasn't allowed, I went for Pinky.

Oh, I see. [ A quick laugh. ] And here I thought it was a cruel nickname that stuck.

Cruel nickname? [ she doesn't get it. ]

[ Brightly: ] Nevermind. What was so bad about Alien Queen, then?

[ Disney would sue them )= ]

"Alien" is a horror movie about an alien queen who has acidic blood. So I guess "Alien Queen" would be too scary.

What, you have to worry about your image alongside all the saving and whatnot?

Course! You gotta show people you are friendly and want to help. And that you are capable too.

Public image is important for a Pro Hero.

[ Her previously good posture sinks into a groan. ]

No thank you on that idea, then. Public image is quite the full time job just by itself.

Well, yeah. [ Mina smiles] Guess could be hard for some people.

Some Heroes don't care that much and still will get tons of fans, tho.

Do they. [ A thoughtful noise ... ] But of course, you're not a hero yet, yes? I suppose I'd better find someone a bit more experienced for my questions.

Not yet, but I have my provisional licence, which means I can act as a hero if needed.

[ still - ] I dunno how this world works, tho. heroes could have a whole different arrangement.
