So... A few things I've been sitting on.
First up, Who here comes from a world where superpowers are a totally normal thing, and who here knows the hero team, uh... [ a pause as he realizes that he should've probably decided on a team before opening up this post. ] "Avengers" and the term "Mutants"?
Secondly, "I was a Former Teen Hero slash child soldier slash wartime medic" and to everybody just now getting powers and thinking that its your duty to use them for other people - it's not. You didn't ask for these. Don't get yourselves killed trying to be a big shot, I've seen it way... way too many times.
[ a pause. josh runs his fingers through his hair and tips his head back, sighing. ]
Oh my god, I sound so old. Anyway, on that note... my name's Elixir. I have healing powers and I'm offering them to other metas. If you have any need of any medical care, especially like... specialized care due to meta physiology, hit me up.

and he knows this name. and that the multiverse produces wildly different people with the same names. so while his eyebrows jump, he doesn't look too phased. ]
It's cool. You've never caused trouble for me, like, personally.
[ the bar is very very low. ]
For the full scope, I can alter biological matter on a genetic level. So... As far as healing goes, it basically translates to accelerating the healing process or completely regrowing new tissue, curing infections and diseases, reversing any unwanted unnatural mutations...
lol I meant to put it on private to begin with and just forgot
[He sees how low the bar is. From what scraps of information he's gathered? Reasonable.
As to the rest...well, as impressive as that sounds, he's keeping his expectations realistic. At least a meta might be able to do more than a regular doctor. He's nervous about doctors anyway, after...well.]
Do you think you could do anything for chronic pain?
I've got all of the back problems you'd imagine. I certainly don't expect any miracles, but a little less pain day-to-day would be nice.
[He is as yet unaware that the other Otto can just take the fucking thing off.]
private
I'd have to see what we're working with, but I imagine I can probably numb the area.
[ or... he pauses, thinking of warren worthington and his heavy iron wings. or the reavers he was all too familiar with back home, and how machinery and flesh don't need to be inherently at war, even if the mechanically inclined often believe so. ]
Or maybe even get everything to, like... harmonize. [ he rubs his chin. ] Depending on how the, uh, tentacles hook in to your nervous system. I might be able to get your body to just recognize them as extensions of you.

[Otto knows the effects, of course, but it's really not possible for him to ascertain the full extent of the internal damage, to either himself or the mechanism. He can't very well go and get an MRI, now can he?]
It would be easier to just show you.
Do you do consultations?
no subject
Sure. I don't have a set place yet, but... Are you still at the Hotel? I can try to get a ballroom.
no subject
That would work for me, as long as it's reasonably private.
[The lack of a proper medical space seems like maybe it should be alarming, but honestly it makes Otto feel a little better! He knows logically that he won't suddenly lose control of the actuators the second he steps into a hospital, or a doctor's office, but...]

[ and from there he head son out.
an hour or so later there's a reply. ]
Hey. I'm in meeting Room 1A. It's the one without the glass.
no subject
[And so he is! Otto enters the room with his extra limbs held as close to his back as he can manage. It looks bad for his posture, honestly; he certainly moves like a guy who has a lot of exciting spinal issues! Nonetheless, he flashes Josh a tired smile and offers him a hand.]
Hi - thanks for seeing me.

[ he should at least try to sound slightly more professional. Over the years, he's come under fire a few times for all this knowledge he has and he didn't earn. One part of it stolen like a thief in the night, the other pure instinct. It always makes him feel somewhat insecure to be in the face of real genius.
But really that's not the point. He offers his hand, gloved, and gives a casual shake. His powers are already reaching out to see what he's working with, wincing in sympathy. ]
So I'm gonna warn you right off the bat, physical contact with me is pretty intense.
no subject
...alright. [It can't be that much worse than all of the times he's been electrocuted, right? I'm pretty sure the first time was technically plasma, rip] Is that all you need to do it? Just a touch?
no subject
[ welcome to omega level mutantdom, baby. ]
Can you run me through what we're working with? I can sense it but that's only half the story.

I was struck in the back by a bolt of plasma while using these actuators. [Lifts a tentacle demonstratively; he's unsure if his dimensional counterpart called them the same thing.] It was essentially like being struck by lightning. I...didn't exactly receive medical attention afterward, so some of this is speculation on my part, but the energy seems to have fused them to my spine and nervous system. They don't come off anymore. I tried to treat the burns, but there's definitely nerve damage. I wouldn't be surprised if I made it worse without realizing. I think they were interfering with my pain receptors for a while.
[By rights he should've been dead, or at least laid up in a hospital for months, after a thing like that; instead he was brawling with Spider-Man on top of a moving train. Seems medically inadvisable!]
There's obviously been some neurological damage as well. My eyes have become very sensitive to light, and I've been getting migraines lately. Oh, and I was electrocuted again recently. [He touches his chest; seems like this guy's real superpower is not dying when he gets hit by lightning.] But that one seems to be healing well enough, assuming I haven't developed a heart condition.
[Also he very plainly doesn't sleep enough, which can't be helping anything!]

I can handle the burns. [ For sure. That's the easy part. But that's a temporary solution for a problem that is absolutely not. ] ... maybe rework your musculature to better support the weight and the way your nervous system has connected to it... I can't make it natural, but I can hopefully make it less... [ like a man welded it all together wearing a blindfold in the dark. ] painful.
[ Golden fingers stroke an equally gold chin as he considers the rest, frowning ever so slightly. He's dealt with this sort of thing to some degree before - Angel's wings. Or any time he's head to heal Laura. It's just a matter of doing his best to make the body accept the foreign objects protruding out of it, recognize it as part of itself. ]
The actual neurological damage is a little trickier. Since the shock didn't fry your brain and the hardware I'm guessing it was just altered... which makes it easy for me to repair the physical stuff, but less the mental stuff. If I fix something that's key to everything being harmonized here, that could maybe stop the machines from functioning and then you'd just have dead weight on you... I'd want you to consult with a telepath first. Maybe a technopath too. I know at least one I can recommend on both fronts, we'd probably have to work at this together.
no subject
Less painful is just fine. I know there's no going back now.
[It hurts, but...there it is. He's never not going to be this, not ever again. That's fine. Or, at least, there's no point in dwelling on it. The rest of that, though...
The two free actuators click, one turning to look at him when the word "technopath" is mentioned, but Otto was already frowning at "telepath". He's had plenty of foreign entities in his head already. He doesn't much fancy the idea of opening that door again, much less for some superpowered stranger.]
I'll take the recommendations if you have them, but I'm not sure I like the idea of a telepath.
[He's willing to have the names and maybe give it some more consideration, but gut check? Nah, no way, he'll sooner just deal with it.]

[ "hero" isn't a word joshua foley likes to use. and for however much he has been burned by the x-men, for however much he's come despise the X and all it symbolizes, jean grey isn't the reason for that.
her boyfriends are.
but there's neither here nor there. he glances at the acuator, eyebrows lifting a little in surprise at the response. evidentially these are more like snakes of a medusa than tentacles from an ursula, but that feels like an exceptionally stupid thing to say. ]
And David Alleyne is a technopath. He's pretty respectful to AI and robots and ju- [ nk. again he pauses considering how rude that is if the good doctor's arms understand what he's saying. ] and other other non-organics.
[ he offers his hand. ]
I can try to do it all now, or I can focus on numbing the pain until you're ready for something a little more invasive.
no subject
...if he shares a quick glance with Flo, well. He just wants to talk this over with someone. Norman, he'll speak with Norman about it.]
Why don't we just numb the pain, for now? I'll need to give the rest some thought. We don't exactly have the best history with things of that nature.
[Did he mean to say "we"? Absolutely not! Did he notice? Possibly no!]
