I'm looking for more information outside the basic brochures on the guilds. While remaining independent would be preferred, there are certain issues that need to be monitored, and the guilds seem like they might have the resources needed.

Information from those who are or been previously involved with the guilds would be incredibly useful to make a final decision.

The Alliance can certainly help you. They've provided some specialized healthcare in various areas for me.

In return - they ask for volunteers often, for missions or handling Confluence duty. The only participation they've enforced so far was for global crises. The kind of things that really did need all hands on deck.
But they will try to use you for publicity, and I wouldn't necessarily trust them to look after you if anything goes wrong.
From what I hear, they've thrown people under the bus before and they'll do it again.

Some initial good news but I need better scans than the basic blood test to verify. It's the main reason I'm looking into the guilds.

Well, I can only speak for the Alliance, but they do make it fairly easy to get medical treatment.

I'm in the Society although I'm not sure what information I can give past what's in their brochures.

An insider's look on how they operate mostly. The Society struck me as rather loose on that front.

Both Guilds keep us housed and taken general care of, I believe. I don't have any special inside view of them.

I doubt we're allowed to stay in a luxury hotel after joining. Could you explain the housing at least?

The house I was given is like an old gothic Victorian house. A little rundown. A little spooky. But that's likely because it's in Sunset Falls. I think the accommodations vary from city to city. But it's roomy and private and out of the way which is what I was looking for.

What did you mean by us being "taken general care of"?

I just meant they give us support in finding housing and jobs and if we need any other special requirements. Like when we arrive. It continues rather than immediately ceases.

It's good to have a support system, don't you think so?

That's what I expected. I talked with someone who seemed to think there would be special protections under a guild's banner and was disappointed when that wasn't the case. I'm wondering if maybe that was the original pitch that changed to something more realistic as time went on.

I wasn't expecting any. It's just the impression I got from the first person I talked to that they expected something more and were disappointed.

I suppose I used to be. Put that behind me when circumstances on my world changed.
