Are there any experts in nanomachines in this world? If so, where might I find them?

I was recently brought here from another world, and I'd like to get in front of a potential issue before it actually becomes one.

Nanotechnology is becoming such a broad field that it's like asking for a doctor. A pediatrician isn't going to do your kidney transplant. What's the potential issue?

Spontaneous mutation that typically results in any number of ways civilians and trained soldiers potentially get killed.

You need to get in contact with your Guild of choice and arrange safe quarters for yourself, if you haven't already done so.

You also need to provide more detail about the specific applications of nanotechnology that you need help with. Microfabrication isn't going to help you if what you need is o-chem.

I haven't had time to look into the guilds because I'm not sure what sort of timeline I'm currently on.

And I have no idea what any of that means.

I wouldn't call myself an expert - the field was still in its infancy, back in my original world.
But I have had the opportunity to learn more about it since. I may at least be able to point you in the right direction.

Like every other living thing on my Earth, I'm infected with nanites. Right now, they're inactive, but if they ever activate, I'll likely mutate into a rampaging monster.

im not an expert or anything but i can sort of talk to machines so i can figure stuff out that other ppl might not be able to as easily?

i mean it pretty much literally
i mean machines dont tend to talk in words or whatever but i can understand/communicate with them
its a power i got from the confluence but ive had several months to figure it out

[Not that he knows the specifics on how Rex talks to machines. Rex always gave him the impression that he was ordering the nanites and other machines to do his bidding but never explained if it was with words or something else.]

He could talk to the nanites but only when they were active. At the moment, mine are still inactive.

Not an expert on nanomachines, more of a dabbler, but I do know my way around mutations.

Any idea what's been tried so far?

Not a scientist, so I can't give any details. I think the latest attempts were to try to isolate the bonds between active nanites.

Can't go into specific details that I don't know, but there was a massive accident five years ago, and every living thing on Earth has been infected with nanites ever since. Most of the time, they're dormant, but at any given time, they can activate and mutate their host. Typically into something very dangerous and violent.

I haven't turned yet.

Do you have any details about the nanites? Whether they're a fully integrated AI system or if they are dormant for the time being? That would affect how much help I could be in the situation. And I want to offer help, at the request of an associate.

Unfortunately, I'm not a scientist though I do work closely with one. I picked up general concepts from working with her but none of the specifics.

They don't seem to have an AI system, and at the moment they're inactive. However, that could change at any time.
