Notes: A few actually, sorry in advance for the tldr. The userpic was taken at a karaoke bar, so feel free to say your character recognizes him as the guy that won't leave the mic and flirts with everyone - he's also the one Rue is talking about in her latest post if you wanna figure that out. Before this post, Jaskier is doing a public stream, I'm not starting there because it's just asking people for song titles and him playing them, but again, feel free to say your character was there making requests. His power allows him to know every song you request - at least, the ones from Earth. If your character asks for a song from their fictional words, you're OOCly allowed to say if he pulls it off or fails! Since this is a stream, don't feel obliged to match with video, use text as it appears on the livechat and threadjack at will.
[Having been here for a little over two weeks by now, Jaskier has become used to quite a few things about the modern world. He's wearing fashionable clothes that show off his chest hair, and he's also acquired a new instrument that people will recognize better than a lute. He's clearly in his room at the Diadem Hotel, sitting at the desk with a glass of wine. Can't be a music show without some kind of happiness substance around. His bright blue eyes are kept on the camera while his fingers -some of them with very pretty rings- distractedly pick at the string to play Queen's A kind of magic.]
Good evening, fellow magical fellows. [He suddenly gasps, obviously fake but still committed to the part of why he chose that word on purpose.] Ah, but is that the correct word? Magical? I couldn't help noticing there are many a word utilized in this realm to describe what the average person can not do. Yet at the end of the day, it all sounds like magic to me! The sorcerers in my world call the source chaos, and considering the circumstances- [He waves a hand in a circle to indicate "this place bringing people from other worlds". Yes, that's exactly the gesture.] -they win terminology points for allowing me to end this sentence with pun intended.
[He's hilarious, right? Right??? When his hands return to the guitar, this time they play a few chords of We didn't start the fire.]
That said! I'd love to hear from any meta that knows how to heal and could tell me the risks behind trying to take care of your own wounds made by magic from another realm. For-- [He glances at the burned marks on his fingers then quickly forces himself to keep his eyes on the camera. The chords change to Sweet Dreams.] Experimental reasons.
[Smooth, Jaskier. Really smooth. He takes a long sip of his wine to get rid of the momentary awkwardness before putting his most charming smile back on.]
With that out of the way, allow me to express my main magical reason for this little show! [He's learned to set up streams, he'll remember to use the word at some point or the other.] I have yet to discover a song I cannot play, so that's where you come in, my dear audience! Request any tune you want, the rarer the better! Let us learn together how far I can push this new ability of mine!
[An ability? That's curious, because in his public stream, he had told the NPC fans he was just that knowledgable in music. What can he say, gotta play your public right.]

@osborntobeking
there's a gold guy in Excelsior who can heal shit.
[ Technically, Harry can heal people too, but in doing so he worsens his own health so like. Fuck that option. ]
play Anaconda by Nicki Minaj
1/3
[As he talks, he writes down "gold guy in Excelsior" on a notebook off camera. Yes, on pen and paper, thank you.]
2/3
3/3
That's it, I shall take it no more! I adore bawdy songs, wrote a bunch of them myself, but- [He wrinkles his nose.] -"my anaconda don't want none unless you got buns"? This is not subtle NOR comical! It's the kind of crude, artless, simplistic metaphor that a first year at Oxenfurt would write on a wall!

Baby's Got Back by Sir Mix-A-Lot

Then he turns a judgemental look at Harry.]
"I want 'em real thick and juicy"? Is there something you wish to share, Harry?

In the end, he doesn't see much of a reason to put up a front. Jaskier seems cool enough, if a bit old fashioned. ]
R.I.P. 2 My Youth by The Neighbourhood
no subject
He closes his eyes and begins singing a softer, more solemn version of the song, pouring his heart into it. When he's done, he waits for feedback, a thousand of questions on his tongue that he'll only release depending on where Harry takes this conversation.]

I'm missing some sort of context for his, am I not? You're a very curious man, Harry Osborn.
[But he still blows a kiss at the camera. Can't let the tip go unthanked for!]

Good sir, you better don't smoke anywhere near my lungs if you don't want a song about your very own anaconda! [But he's smiling, so this is clearly not a moral issue. Just a matter of keeping smoke away from him.] Chocolate pastries mixed with it, however, I shall also accept as tips.

edibles are legal in WA. come by Excelsior and I'll treat you
no subject
[He tilts his head at the camera. Oh?]
If I visit you -tomorrow, more likely- would you tell me the story behind the song?
no subject
[ His face has already been all over the tabloids, both here and back home. Bad press doesn't scare him anymore. ]
yeah, sure.
offline.

[And the next day, he'll come over to get that deal.]
@skypirate
How about The Bonnie Pirate?
[ It's an old Ivalician pub song, the kind with a set tune that people like to make additional verses to. There are more than a few about him.
He's also been keeping an eye on the karaoke shenanigans, saw the fellow in a place near his house one night. He's impressed, mildly concerned, and aware they are likely to be enemies or close friends. Just like pirating. Makes him feel a little more at home. ]
no subject
[But then he disappears from the camera for a moment, only to return with his lute. No need to adapt this one, he can stick to the classics. The lute will make it sound more authentic!
And so he begins singing about the Bonnie Pirate, who fought an earl and his soldiers in order to kidnap his beautiful daughter.]
♫ They marveled for a moment / then one said we must be gone / let's leave him a souvenir / before we move along ♫
[Jaskier is clearly having fun with this one, especially when he reaches the ending and covers the Bonnie Pirate taking the girl's maidenhood while mermaids sing around the ship.]
no subject
[ He'll spare this fellow his usual long-suffering bemoaning of everyone here assuming seapirates because he likes his song and general demeanor. ]
I wonder if your ability gave you the version you'd be most able to understand; that one is fairly obscure for us. I've only seen or heard it a few times.
no subject
[He closes his eyes and concentrates, trying to push the version he just sang away to access the other versions from the Murderous Chicks realm. Slowly, his fingers pluck a few notes, not a full song but enough to--]
♫ Where shall we adventure today that we're soaring / Wary of the weather and guided by the stars? / Shall it be to Cerobi, gently our steering / To Tchita, Eruyt, or off to Zertinan? ♫
omg its beautiful
The second verse gets a disbelieving laugh from Balthier. That's a song as familiar as his favorite foods, and the first thing from home he's encountered since he got here. ] Alright that is genuine Ivalician pub music. I am impressed and in your debt.
hehe stole from Stevenson and tweaked it
[He replies with a slight bow of his head, tapping his forehead with his hand and bringing it down with a twirly flourish - when possible, always be dramatic. That's his ego talking, because Balthier said he's impressed, and that's the kind of sentence that will always make him preen under the attention.]
I'm honored to have been a window into the memories of your home. If you have any other song titles you're willing to share, I shall write them down to study them. I want to create a varied repertoire! Imagine a musician that can reach every heart no matter their origins because his tunes include stories of every realm!
still counts :3
It also occurs to him this may be one of the only ways to get any sort of Ivalician culture. ]
Give me some time to gather my thoughts -- I may toss an operetta or two your way. Loki has a theater. Maybe we ought to collaborate, put on some truly foreign performances.
no subject
[He's kidding. ...maybe.]
I did see all the theatres! And the, umh, tb thingy? [He means tv.] Such a variety of stages to find around here! And the requirements that come along with them! [A huff. They've discussed bureaucracy already.] I feel like a wee graduate just leaving Oxenfurt again. I need to rebuild my career, gather followers - fortunately, these little screens are quite helpful for that process. My earlier- [He glances at his notebook.] -stream was actually quite successful! So many people reached at the same time from all over the map! This technology gives me in minutes what I could only achieve with weeks of traveling, and trust me, I am not complaining.
no subject
[ Jaksier's enthusiasm is wildly charming. It reminds him of being among sky pirates and traveling performers, eager to take the world. ] There are certainly advantages to the technology here, even if we must suffer stiffer borders and codified bureaucracy.
Do you compose as well?
no subject
[Theatrical flourish applies to indignation too, it seems. The other comment, though, gets an enthusiastic nod.]
I hadn't played other bard's songs in years, in fact, except for the occasional request from the audience or the traditional tunes of specific festivals. I do intend to -ah, record? all my work here as well, but to rebuild my reputation, I need to attract people's attention first - slowly adding original songs to a list of local music for a smooth transition. I also need to rearrange some work to these new instruments and-- [He shakes his head.] Study the reaction to the fact many a song of mine talk about magic, which as you may know, it's not always well received by this realm's public.
no subject
Seems you're taking like a bird to the skies. A proper dissertation ahead of you.
If you need assistance acquiring anything historical, I do run an antiques shop. Willing to barter services for goods.
no subject
[But he definitely perks up at the mention of the antique shop.]
Ohoho, now that's the kind of curious store filled with stories hiding behind relics! I may come by just to admire the beauties, but pray tell, mayhap you have anything that shall meet my tastes? Literature? Instruments? Sheet music? Jewelry?
no subject
Insinuating my taste isn't excellent? May I point you to my wardrobe?
[ The perking up at the shop has him chuckling. Easy to read indeed. ] Yes to all but the literature, as I don't know your taste and am still familiarizing myself with this world's offerings. But there are some instruments [ Magical even ] and plenty of jewelry. I do have a few folios of old sheet music, though I admit my skill at reading it is rusty.
no subject
[And by that he means there's an insane amount of people with good fashion or food taste that dislikes his music. The nerve!
But then he's clasping his hands together in delight.] Save those folios for me, good captain! As for the jewelry, I shall pay you a visit for a closer look and choose accordingly. I am allowed to try them on, am I not? As useful as these-- [A second to remember the word.] -catalogs? are for supplies, anything that I must wear needs to be tried on first. Have you noticed the whole deal with those numbers on the shoes? They don't mean the same on different makers! What is the bloody point then!
no subject
We are of the same opinion on the most important things. Yes, I am old-fashioned here, and I think superior in judgement, so you may look and touch and try on to your heart's content. [ Good luck stealing from a magical pirate backed by the villain's guild. He hasn't had any trouble with things leaving, only coming in. ]
Yes, sizing and tailoring here leave much to be desired, though I'm pleased with some of the broader options. [ He really likes crop tops ok ] One has to find masters in their field to get anything worthwhile, and the costs are exorbitant. Pity sturdy clothing is not considered a basic necessity.
