I'm thinking no. The dead branch remaining as part of the unique signature of the universe while the new folds itself in like it's always been there. You could argue that each universe is in itself a different branch off another one, but that's getting a little too complicated.
Ultimately the amount of energy required to form a completely new universe from a diverging timeline means it doesn't seem likely to me.
