Sooo... hypothetical question: given that the space-time continuum is kinda lookin' the other way here, how do birthdays work? If you've spent a year in this dimension, but only a few minutes have passed back home, does that time count towards your actual age?

[Not that Otto has any personal attachment to going back to his universe anymore - even though he didn't quite intend to fake his own death there, that's sort of what ended up happening and it's probably all better that way. But if he had anybody left there...well, it wouldn't be the same just to visit, he knows that.]

[Ah. Young love. Delightful! And - well, admittedly sort of agonizing to see under his present circumstances, but Otto's pretty determined to rise above that. He's not going to become some bitter old man who lashes out at everyone around Valentine's, or her birthday, or - well, point being, he's not doing that.]

You two are close already? Even if she doesn't feel the same, I don't think the simple fact of asking could destroy what you have now. It might be a little awkward afterwards, but - like you said, you've got a whole dimension's worth of space to give her!

Either way, it's not good for you to keep your feelings inside like that. They'll eat you up. It's always worth saying something.
