[The video feed comes on, and it's the smallest Spider-Man pacing a rooftop. He's masked up, so no one can see his face, but it's probably pretty clear from his body language that he's distraught. And when he finally speaks, that definitely comes through in his voice.]

So-- So I'm gonna out and say it. Okay? I'm-- Apparently, I'm the last one, and- and-

[He stops. Sighs. Shakes his head and starts over. No more pacing, he just plops down in front of the camera like a child.]

Y'know, when I got here, there were like. Five Spider-Men. And I thought, oh hey, wow, look at all these way cooler versions of me that exist across the multiverse. Neat. Maybe I can learn from them. Or maybe I can take a break, do some normal teenager stuff. That'd be nice.

They're all-- They're all gone now.

[He pauses, glancing off to the side with a soft huff.]

..I thought I was okay with that. It- It's been a little while now, and I thought I was okay. But y'know what? This sucks. 'Cause to me-- See, there's one major difference between me and the other Spider-Men that were here, besides being the youngest, and that-- It- It's that I died.

[He throws his hands up in an exasperated "Whaddaya gonna do" motion, sighing yet again.] So- Y'know. That's why I'm stuck here. Sorry that you're all stuck with the inferior dead one. Just thought the people- [He makes a wide gesture out toward the camera and at the city around him.] -might wanna know that I?? I am the sucky one.

Everyone dies. Some of us more often than others.

If you really believe you're the inferior one, then use this opportunity to do something about it. Your death has nothing to do with it.

I'd say that maybe nine times out of ten, getting yourself killed means you did something wrong. And what'm I supposed to do about that from here, anyway?? In this place I'm probably just another dead kid that can't go home because, y'know, dead. What do you want from me??

Maybe I lost mine the first time I died. I certainly don't recall having one for the second.

[The snippiness is annoying, but, well. Considering the circles he ran in, it wasn't nearly enough to get a rise out of him.]

Countless Sith have spent their lives searching for any way they could to cheat death and failed. The last murdered countless millions in the pursuit of that goal.

So if there is anything I want, it would be for the child who succeeded where they could not would stop acting as if he's somehow lesser for it. You have a new life. Use it.

Ok, first off, ohmygosh I'm so sorry.

Second, I'm pretty sure one of the few constant things about the multiverse is that Spider-Man is awesome, in every dimension, no matter how old he is or how hard hard he dunks on himself.

This- This isn't cheating death. Dying has taken me here. And I'm still not convinced that this isn't some kind of afterlife, okay? And that's just-- That's so not the same thing as a "new life"--

[He groans, wiping a hand down over the face of his mask. It's equal parts frustrated and resigned, and he slumps forward in defeat.]

Sorry- Sorry, I know you mean well by saying that, I really do. I'm just kind of having a hard time believing that right now. 'Cause I met those other Spider-Men, y'know? And they- They were clearly doing way better than me. One of them was dating a Loki, which is so insane but also, y'know, good for them, and all of them just made me feel so lame in comparison.

[He goes quiet for a second again, and then, with a soft sigh.] ... I wouldn't object to a hug, though.

[Well, now he's very interested, considering this was literally the first person to even recognize the word. The first person to admit it where he could find out, anyway.]

This isn't the afterlife, as I'm sure some of the others can attest. Several Starfallen have arrived from the same worlds and recognized one another already. If they'd all died to get here, there are an awful lot of them who have no recollection of it. Either of their own death, or the deaths of any familiar faces they've encountered here.

[Granted, he was pretty sure the same person who'd explained the concept of the multiverse to him also mentioned there were various timeline differences as well, but that wouldn't exactly be helpful right now.]

Okay, I know, I know that's what people have said, but how do we know know, y'know? I mean if someone died really fast and suddenly, maybe it was too fast for them to remember. We don't all get beaten up and bleed out on our front lawns in front of, y'know, all your loved ones--

It makes the most sense to me. They all got taken to their home universes, because y'know, they've still got lives to lead. Meanwhile, my story's done, so if I go home, I go home to die. So I get to stay here instead. Makes total sense!
