Notes: 1st Annual Mistletoe PSA!!! (given length, picture it in 2 separate posts)

Hey, everyone! So I’m out here, minding my own business. Enjoying some fresh air, bracing myself for Japan’s World Cup team to either get stomped by Germany or surpass all expectations (no spoilers, I have get back to work!) when I see this outside
[Attached are two photos of a large mistletoe cluster in a bare maple tree, one zoomed in to detail the berries and leaf structure.]
For the non-botanists out there, that’s mistletoe. And it wasn’t there yesterday! Being that it’s December 1st, that means one thing. Magic mistletoe season is upon us. And so I am performing my civic duty and providing a Public Service Announcement.
Magic mistletoe differs from the mundane in that if you stop under it or by it, you’re trapped. As in, your feet are stuck to the ground and you cannot move. The only way to get out is to follow the tradition and kiss someone. Or be kissed by someone, the mistletoe’s not picky. The longer you try to resist, the more you have to kiss to break free.

OK I had to head back inside, the kissweed was starting to generate under the eaves, no problem~
Common questions you might have: “But mistletoe only grows on trees–” NOPE, it can grow on buildings, too. Because magic. Indoors and out.
“But can’t I move it or destroy it?” If you want to make it mad, you can try? It tends to be element-proof and rebuff physical damage. Plus it generates more sprigs when attacked, centered about you. The only thing that makes it go away is it seeing that sweet, sweet PDA like the parasitic creeper it is
“But it won’t last that long!” Yeeeeees and no. It’ll be here and there, all month long. The last of it should be gone by New Year’s Day.
“But Mayuko, what makes you the expert?” Sixty-two days of magic mistletoe per year, for five years, in another place that sucked people in on a monthly basis? You learn to keep your head on a swivel in December.
Those are the major points, really! I had to gloss over a bunch but if you have any questions, feel free to leave them here!
